Technical Ceramics
Ball screw drives
Ceramic recirculating ball bearings open up new possibilities in many industrial applications and solve problems that previously could not be adequately addressed:
- in precision engineering,
- when used in vacuum, cleanroom, or magnetic field environments,
- for medical devices,
- in cryogenics as well as
- for semiconductor manufacturing equipment:
The outstanding properties of the ceramic materials used, combined with high precision, set new standards.
Unlike slide guides, recirculating ball guides are equipped with rolling elements (balls), which significantly reduce friction. The material properties of the rolling elements and raceways, made of engineering ceramics, further enhance this effect: recirculating ball guides enable fast and precise movements.
A significant advantage of this newly developed ceramic linear guide, resulting from the ZrO2/Si3N4 material combination, is the increased rigidity as well as the improved surface finish and running quality. The special shaping and combination of the guide prisms ensure optimized, very low frictional resistance. An outstanding feature is its ability to operate under conditions of insufficient lubrication or even in dry running.
The standard versions of ourTKL-KMK seriesareoften suitable for use as replacements in existing systems. In the standard version, the linear guides are made of zirconia (ZrO2) with rolling elements made of silicon nitride (Si3N4).
The dimensions correspond, to the extent permitted by the material properties, to the standard ball recirculating guides available in the industry and are compatible with, or interchangeable with, most metal ball recirculating guides.
