Technical Ceramics

Linear guides

Ceramic linear guides are proving increasingly valuable in many industrial sectors. Whether in precision engineering, vacuum, cleanroom, or magnetic field applications, in medical devices, in cryogenics, or in semiconductor manufacturing equipment, the outstanding properties of the ceramic materials used, combined with high precision, open up entirely new possibilities. Linear guides made of engineering ceramics have the unique ability to operate under conditions of insufficient lubrication or even in dry running.

TKL-R Linear Guides

Standardized linear guide with rolling elements (balls or rollers). Available in numerous material combinations. Our standard material for guides is zirconia. The rolling elements are available in either silicon nitride or zirconia, and the cages are made of various plastics or metals.

The all-ceramic linear guide features a ceramic cage with retained balls. It is available in sizes 3 and larger.
Suitable for use in temperature ranges > 250°C.

Interchangeable with most standard metal linear guides available on the market.

The TKL-R series is also available in a hybrid version. The guides are made of steel or stainless steel, and the rolling elements are made of engineering ceramics.
Hybrid guide systems are often used as replacements for existing guides, but are also increasingly being used in new systems:

  • Longer service life than steel linear guides in identical applications (Total Cost of Ownership), resulting in longer maintenance intervals and, consequently, reduced downtime.
  • The ceramic rolling elements do not adhere to the steel guide rails, which significantly reduces breakaway torque after prolonged periods of inactivity.
  • Improved emergency running performance under conditions of insufficient lubrication.
  • More cost-effective than all-ceramic guides

Only high-quality rails from European manufacturers are used in the hybrid systems.
